Heart swap

I recently took part in a heart swap project with the followers of http://naturalsuburbia.blogspot.com/

The idea being that you are paired up with another blogger and you each make something heart shaped or with a heart incorporated into the design and then post it to each other.

I made 5 little things.

3 little hearts made to the same pattern but with 3 different types of wool to make different textures.
I attatched them to a little bit of ribbon to make a mini garland.

A diamond shaped face cloth with 2 hearts.

A square face cloth with a heart in the centre.

And the gift I recieved ...

...a lovely hot pan cloth in lots of pink, my favourite colour :)
Thank you to Chiska the lady I swaped with, who you can find at http://muddyspring.blogspot.com/

I am looking forward to taking part again next year.

Nicola's Winter Warmers

For Nicola I made a set with thick aron wool.

I made a hat, a pair of mittens and a pair of wrist warmers.

The hat was my first ever attempt at cable, not too bad for a first attempt?
I am going to make a pair of leg warmers (as requeted) and a scarf so watch this space.

Winter Warmers For Danica

I realised last week when we had our first frost that winters on its way so I got busy making ...

Remember this little snippet of something I was working on, well it has now become this ...

A pink and purple striped cardigan, hat, mittens and booties for Danica.
Danica is a bit big for booties as she wears proper shoes now, but I couldn't resist making them, so she has been wearing them around the house as slipper socks :)
I am still deciding weather to make a scarf?

Mellow Yellow!

I finally finished the yellow top/dress :)

I say top/dress because it fits Josie as a long top with leggings and it fits Danica as a dress!
Poor little Jojo, she's rapidly getting caught up!

Just a couple Of Things I am Working On

I recently made this purple dress for Nicola.....

.....I am just deciding how to fasten it at the shoulers. Don't worry it isn't a wonky shape, I just managed to take a wonky photo!

This is a little snippet of my current knitting project, I am not going to say what it is but just wanted to share the lovely colour combination :)

A Sneak Preview Of Whats To Come :)

Heres a little sneak peak at some of the the material in my stash.

Lots of colours.....

.....and lots of patterns.

And some bits that are cut out ready to sew :)

Another Pillowcase Dress

I brought 2 vintage pillocases.

I fell in love with the orange flowery pattern.

I cut the corners at one end and and hemmed it with a large hem so I could thread ribbon through.

Once the ribbon was threaded through I tied it to make shoulder straps.
Its not the most flattering of dresses but its quick to make and great for the garden or park.

Fat Quaters What To Make?

Another bundle of gorgeous colours waiting to be made into something.

The problem was solved for me when my wonderful husband brought me a computer for my birthday.

I made a computer cover with 2 of the flowery patterns, one for outside and one for inside and I put a layer of thin wadding between the layers to give some added protection.

Unfortunately i made it about a centimetre too short, but hay ho, you live and learn !

Wash Bags

I brought a load of fat quaters of material purely because I fell in love with the colours and didn't know what to do with them?

I made this wash bag for my bestest buddy Danni, for her birthday.

It is lined with coordinating spots.
The picture was taken before I put the ties in.

This one is for Nikki.

This one is for Josie and I have yet to decide on a colour for Danica.

Danica's New Flowery Dress

The pillowcase I unpicked turned into a lovely little dress for Danica :)

My little cutie in her new dress at the park.

It is made of 3 layers and is fully lined, so it can be worn with a long sleeved top and tights when it gets colder.

A little blurry, but shows the 2 buttons on the back...

Which actually discuise poppers as I am useless at buttonholes, a little trick I lurn't from my lovely Nan :)

I have name labels for my designs now as well.

3 Jumpers for 3 Little Girls

I finally finished off some jumpers I was making just before we moved at the beginning of June.

I made this cute little jumper dress for danni with a really fluffy wool and it nearly drove me mad, so I won't be using it agin in a hurry, plus it seemed a bit loose when finished.

I then made a jumper dress with a non fluffy wool for Josie in her favourite colour and smaller needles which eliminated the loose look of Danni's.

Nicola chose this jumper and the colours which I think work well and make a really nice jumper, its quite thick though so has been put away till winter resurfaces :(

At the bottom there is a cute little trim (which took a couple of attempts and some help from Nanny).
I think this pattern will definately resurface in the winter.

My First Evening On My New Sewing Machine

I finally got a chance to play with my new sewing machine.

Anyone guess who the RED top is for? Yep Josie, she's mad about red (and Helloe Kitty)!
Not too bad for someone who hasn't been on a sewing machine for about 10 years?

A pattern for a dress for Nikki.

A pretty pillowcase that no longer has a pillow to fit turns into...

... a massive long piece of material to make something (probably for Danica).

Knitted Bunny

I tried something new and knitted a bunny plus 2 dresses.

Not too bad for a 1st attempt?

I love the picot hem on the dresses.

Bunny even has a cutelittle tail.

Josie trying out the bunny's hugability :)
I will be making at least 2 more of these(as I have3 girls!) so watch this space.

Grandma's Birthday Scarf

For Grandma's 70th Birthday, I made a scarf in the colours of her favourite team, Northampton Saints.

I made it with chunky wool and made it extra wide so that once it was finished I could fold it in half and swe it so that you couldn't see the wrong side of the knitting. Then instead of sewing up the ends of the scarf I made tassles.

Bolero Cardigans

I found a lovely chunky knit pattern for a jumper and bolero cardigan and seeing as it was about April time i decided to do the cardigans.

Nicola wanted pink and i added a few stripes of multi coloured to break up the pink a little.

danica's was made with the leftover multi coloured from Nicola's and the left over white from josie's.

josie's favourite things in the whole world at the mo are red and Dora, so red it was!

finally a picture of all 3 together.
Because they are made with chunky wool they are so quick to make,i will definately be making the jumpers from this pattern when it gets colder.
I also made Josie and Nicola a bag each to match and when i can locate them both at the same momment in time i will take a picture!

Stripey Jumpers

Last winter I made Nikki and Jojo a striped jumper each.

This is Nicola's, its a bit wide but she needed the length.
If i make it agin I will have to use the width from 1 size and the length from another!

This is josie's jumper, a perfect fit, I love it when that happens.
Then I put the pattenr in a "safe place" to make danica one when she was a bit bigger!
I finally found the pattern again just before we moved house yay :)

so I made Danica one. I made it only a size smaller than Josie's because she is so big and josie is so small, I am convinced that by next winter they will be the same size!

I wanted to take a picture of all 3 girls wearing them but not everyone wanted to put them on so I gave up and took this picture.
If you have good eyesight( or a big computer screen) you will notice that the palest pink on Danni's is slightly different. I went tothe same wool shop as the year before and they had 3 out of 4 colours the same still, which wasn't bad.

I am currently doing more of these jumpers as a suprise present for someone, once they are done I will take pictures.
